Installing propane tank lines
The length of the line depends on how far you intend to run it. For instance, if you plan on running the line across a yard, you will probably want to go no further than feet. However, if you plan on installing the line along a driveway, you will probably want a longer line. A propane line should be installed underground. This prevents the possibility of damage from frost heaving and other weather conditions. It also helps to protect against flooding.
Propane lines are typically installed using either a PVC pipe or metal tubing. Both types of pipes can be used for residential applications. Metal piping is generally preferred because it is stronger and less likely to break. You can install a propane line yourself, but it is recommended that you hire a professional plumber to help you. A propane line should be buried at a minimum depth of six 6 inches.
However, if you live in a cold region, you may wish to bury the line deeper to prevent freezing. What type of gas line should I use? A propane tank needs to be connected to a supply pipe that runs from the tank to your house. Also, the line should be buried at least 6 inches below ground level.
To connect the line, dig a hole about 4 feet wide and 3 feet long. Dig down into the soil until you reach the bottom of the pipe. Then, insert the end of the pipe into the hole. Next, fill the hole back in with dirt. Finally, wrap the pipe with electrical tape to protect it from damage. Propane tanks can explode if they leak. Leaks can happen during transportation, storage, and installation. To prevent leaks, check the valves and connections every six months.
Make sure the valves are not frozen. Check the connections for cracks and corrosion. If you forgot to shut off the gas supply to your tank, you could end up with a fire. It is important to remember to turn off the gas supply to the tank after using it.
A propane tank needs to be located away from houses, schools, hospitals, churches, and other buildings. A safe distance is 50 feet from these structures. You can run a propane line about feet from the tank.

Amazon has CSST pipe and fittings available for purchase and some offer training to qualify for their particular product. It says company name is optional so you could qualify as an individual and be certified to purchase their pipe and fittings.

You have a very unusual situation. Best consult your building department. Be safe. Although it does require more tools and a little knowledge of copper lines and fittings, copper has been a main go to for gas lines for decades.

We are getting natural gas to our area and I would like to convert the fireplace to natural gas. I also want to replace my electric stove with a new gas one. I have spoken to a few plumbing companies and some say I can use the existing piping and some say I need to increase the size piping for natural gas. Harry, there is a scientific way to know. A formula that they should be familiar with will tell you gas pipe size.

I live and work out of an RV fifth wheel and would like to install a line for a vent free propane fireplace. The distance from the RV tanks to the fireplace is about 6 feet. The furnace is even closer.
I intend to use the fireplace for heat rather than the furnace. That being the case, could I tap into the furnace line rather than run a separate line? And would it be better to use CSST over a flexible line? What sort of connector would you recommend if tapping into the furnace line is do-able?
