When the laptop was actually functioning it seemed to be okay. The product is shipped with Windows XP media edition which allows the use of a included TV remote control. I found that the TV was a little too soft sometimes even on the maximum computer volume so i bought some peripheral speakers which solved the problem. The Asus A7J 17 inch laptop we are reviewing today is marketed as a media laptop, but goes much further than that.

The Asus A7J has a lot of strong features that make up for just a few minor quirks in design. The super sharp 17" display with the Mobility Radeon X MB adapter will keep most people happy whether you're watching a DVD, playing games, or viewing photos online. Asus A7J inch Core Duo Notebook Review Source: PC Perspective It wasn't too long ago that 17 inch laptops were considered excessive and its usefulness questionable, but today we are seeing an increasing number of people ditching their noisy desktops for larger laptops that are just as functional while being somewhat portable.

Riyad is casting his gaze over a Samsung, while I have in front of me a large beastie from Asus - the A7S — a large desktop replacement entertainment machine. System specs say 4GB capable, but it can not support 4GB as shipped, so be careful if you're looking to drop an extra 2GB into this baby like I did. They have had a good tech support record up until now, but that was just lost with me. Bottom line is that they should not list specs at 4GB if the notebook can't handle it.

I opened the Install Manager and before I even had a chance to select what I wanted to uninstall, it removed everything including the drivers. Some of the keys on the right side of the keyboard rattle like they are loose as well. Good value, but you might want to look for another model or brand, or at least one without the ATI video card.

Pros: This laptop has some serious processing power, and has handled anything I have been able to through at it.

I have owned AMD processors since the age, and they have always preformed extremely well. I have not had any issues at all with the actual hardware drivers that came with the notebook. I enjoy the 17" LCD decent resolution with wide screen support as well as the 10 key. Bluetooth 2. Many USB slots as well as a firewire and esata are good. Overall this notebook is a great purchase!!! Cons: Vista is not backward compatible with some applications, it sucks up resources like crazy, and Asus did not provide the 64 bit version.

Asus live update does not work. Documentation that came with the notebook was had no technical information, and in my opinion had no relative information that was useful at all. Resolved my issue. Clear instructions. Easy to follow. No jargon. Pictures helped. Didn't match my screen. Incorrect instructions. Too technical. Not enough information. Not enough pictures. Any additional feedback?
